David Yates is from New Zealand and lives in Christchurch, New Zealand's second largest city. He began his working life not as a writer but as a broadcaster working on various radio stations all over New Zealand from the mid 80s and into the late 2000s. Following his departure from radio, David became a full time university student receiving a BA in Anthropology. BA ( Hons ) in Anthropology. BA in Philosophy and BA in Cinema Studies. A self confessed journeyman, David has had a number of jobs but all the while collecting stories and experiences. Early in 2018 he suffered a stroke and used writing as a method to recover. This therapy resulted in Pirate Dave Makes Some Friends. This is David?s first book and he is currently working on his second which is another Pirate Dave adventure. David is single and lives with his sister, a collection of ducks and hens, and a vivacious dog called Sadie.
