Geraldo de Barros (1923-1998) was one of the greatest representatives of modernism in Brazil. He assimilated the principles of the Design School of Ulm (Germany), brought them to South America and encouraged many of his colleagues to join Concrete Art movement. Barros cultivated contacts with European artistic avant-garde and, in Brazil, was a pioneer developer, experiencing new trends, such as happening and Pop Art.
