Keynote: Managed care companies and other behavioral health organizations are stepping up provider record audits to ensure adherence to the 1998-2000 treatment record guidelines promulgated by the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). This TheraScribe 3.0 upgrade allows the software to generate treatment records that conform to the new NCQA standards. In 1998, the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) - an independent watchdog agency for behavioral healthcare - issued new guidelines for mental health clinical records. These guidelines, which go into effect on July 1, 1999, have been adopted by most major behavioral health managed care organizations and third-party payers. In order to secure and maintain NCQA accreditation, these payers must submit to the NCQA proof that providers in their networks maintain clinical records that adhere to the NCQA guidelines - a task they will accomplish through ongoing record audits, beginning in July, 1999. This upgrade to TheraScribe 3.0 contains 6 new fields (devoted to the patient's family, developmental, substance use, socio-economic, psychiatric, and medical history), plus a modified report format designed to generate treatment records that conform to the new NCQA guidelines. Included FREE with this upgrade is a easy-to-use form designed to capture all of the patient data necessary to compose a concise, but thorough, biopsychosocial history.
